healthy & nutricious July 17, 2008 mr nature (outerbanks nc) these bars are great for the fast pace family who can't always have a balanced meal. they are especially handy when at the ball field and or on the run to dance lessons they also are rich enough in nutrition to satisfy a adult appetite for a supplementary breakfast or lunch. enjoy!
Best health food bar I have ever had July 15, 2008 Andrew Corpuz (Los Angeles, CA USA) The key to eating healthy is healthy ingredients. This bar and its sisters seem to be filled with very pure ingredients (it is a raw food bar after all), and the list is short. You can taste the freshness too.
Yes, as others have said, they are a bit date and cashew heavy, but they are very delicious. I am craving them as we speak. The whole family of raw revolution bars take 1st prize for me.
Pros: 100% guilt free healthiness Delicious Fresh Tasting Convenient Size Cool Packaging!
Cons: Price (like health bars in general) Local Availability
Green goodness June 30, 2008 Francine Smith (Chicago, IL USA) I enjoy the Raw revolution bars. They are filling, actually healthy, and still taste good. They will sustain you, when you don't have time to have a real meal.
amazing organic bar with no processed ingredients June 19, 2008 SunnyInLA (Los Angeles, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Think of a snack bar without cooked or processed ingredients, and that doesn't taste bad. (If you're used to natural foods already, you'll even say this tastes pretty good.)
Connoisseurs of natural food complain that it doesn't contain that much spirulina, the protein-rich blue-green algae. But this Raw Revolution bar costs just $2 retail, and I can't imagine what a bar of pure spirulina would cost or taste like.
The complete ingredients list: cashew, date, agave nectar, almond, amaranth, spirulina, and sprouted flax. All the ingredients are certified organic, except for the spirulina.
The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because it is very oily. It's not the type of bar I'd keep in my bag and be able to tear open and eat on the go -- there'd be a big slippery mess.
Each bar contains 285 calories, 15 grams of fat, and 7 grams of protein.
Surprisingly good. May 8, 2008 Echokitten (Cincinnati Oh USA) These bars are pretty good. I really like the texture and the flavor. Not too sweet not too "health foody". I really like it that they are squishy. I was also surprised by the forest green color when I first opened one though. It's a bit on the oily side as well, but it's better than being dry so I'll take it. For taste, I give it a thumbs up. I don't eat chocolate so trying to find good tasty meal bars without is a challenge. I gave it an overall 4 out of 5 stars because of the fat content. The majority of the 15g of fat is mostly from the cashews which I understand, but it does make me eat these sparingly. I think I'd like them even better, and eat them more frequently...if they didn't have nuts in them, but only to save on the fat. But I find that if I eat them for breakfast instead of a snack, I don't feel so guilty about the high cals and fat. Overall, they are a nice clean tasting snack. I would recommend these to anyone just starting out experimenting with spirulina, looking for a good healthy snack or meal bar. My advice for those of you looking for a super sweet, candy-like meal bar...look elsewhere. These are for people that really enjoy raw foods and are interested in changing dietary habits for the better, if you want candy sweet...eat a candy bar.
