The Extend "Chocolate Delight" bars are probably the best low carb snack bars I have tried since becoming diabetic. While the Atkins bars are generally very good, these taste even better and also do seem to control my blood sugar longer.
These bars have 150 Calories each, 12g of Protein, and only 1 Net Carb. The high protein load really helps to control my hunger, making this a great snack for mid-day munchies or after workout "pick me up", as well as a bed time snack.
One note of caution, these do have Maltitol which can cause "gastric distress" in some people.
Highly Recommended! I also like Extend Bar Peanut Butter Chocolate Delight, 15-Count, 21.16-Ounce Box

The bar seems to work mostly as advertised, although I get closer to the 4-6 hour range than the 6-9 hour range as claimed, but that may be normal metabolic variations and not a product defect. These bars are good tasting but are definitely not something you want to search out as a desert bar--they're good, but not in that way. These are not that sweet, which is also good.

I have gone through several boxes of the bars over the past few months, and really like them. Great for a snack as a pre-diabetic. I just wished they would offer the assorted flavors box on Amazon. I would buy more if they did. Walgreen's stocks Chocolate and Peanut, but nothing else, and I don't like paying the S/H charges at the product website.

These bars, in the chocolate flavor, are amazingly satisfying and filling. I highly recommend them as a way to have a low-sugar, high-protein snack that will stave off hunger.
