About The Celiac Shop

The Celiac Shop is designed, hosted, and operated by a person with celiac disease named Steve Rider.

The Celiac Shop exists to benefit those with celiac disease by making it easier to find gluten-free products, books about celiac disease and the gluten free diet, and small kitchen appliances useful to those on a gluten-free diet.

Our role in your shopping experience consists entirely of helping you to find products you want to buy, we do not stock or sell anything at all. All sales, shipping, and payment for items you select here are handled by Amazon.com. The Celiac Shop is an Amazon Associate store.

This website can be classified as a web search portal, each time you request a page of product information our server contacts Amazon.com to get the details, then we format the information according to our design and send the results to your web browser. Our shopping cart keeps track of any items you add, and when you choose to checkout we redirect your request to Amazon.com.

Each month the nice people at Amazon.com add up all of the items they have sold to people that clicked on one of our store or ad links, and based on some complicated math, we get a certain percentage of the proceeds. We only receive payment from Amazon, not from you, and you only pay Amazon, not us. Our role is exclusively helping you find stuff and making it look so nice that you just can't resist buying it. We think we know at least something about what people with celiac disease want to buy. How are we doing?

Privacy Policy

We don't know who you are and we never will. We do not know your email address and we have no means available for you to tell us what that might be. We can't reveal your private details because we will never know what they are. Our privacy policy is "Yes", we want to respect your privacy by never knowing anything personal about you.

The web server on which this site is hosted does record your IP address, just as every other web server on the planet also does. A record of your IP address and the pages you access on this site is maintained automatically by this web server so that it can be used to track usage trends, troubleshoot problems, and to allow us to defend the site from the occasional malicious hack attempt. Most web browsers automatically identify themselves as to what type of web browser they are, which version, and which computer operating system is being used to run the browser. This helps web servers to provide you with web pages that you will be able to see and use. There is nothing malicious or invasive about this process, and it happens on every website that you visit. The log files on our server are erased on a daily basis by an automatic process.

No permament record of your visit is retained unless you make a purchase from Amazon.com. If you add one or more products to your shopping cart and you then select Checkout at Amazon our store software sends us an automated email that includes the items you selected but no details about you except your IP address, as mentioned above. This is done for 2 reasons, it helps us to understand what gluten-free or other items our visitors wish to buy, and it helps us to troubleshoot any problems that may occur. Again, this email does not include any personal details about you at all.

About Us

Steve Rider, the designer, owner, and operator of this website, is a semi-retired old person with a lifelong interest in geeky stuff. He has about 65 websites, we think. Nobody is really sure. He just keeps making more websites all of the time. He is known for this.

Steve lives in warm and beautiful Palm Springs, California with his registered domestic partner and about 20 computers.

If you wish to contact Steve you can use this form. Steve reads all email messages that are sent by human beings, but spammers need not apply.

Thank You
